IANTD Technical Diving programs provide further training for those divers who wish
to dive beyond Sport Diving limits in a safe and organized manner. A pre-requisite
is the IANTD Advanced EANx Diver program. IANTD Technical Diving programs
build on the knowledge gained from previous IANTD programs and introduce divers
to a range of strategies to safely manage their equipment and gas usage. For
safety students are require to have dual outlet valves on all bottom mix tanks. All
students, including those who wish to use a rebreather, are taught how to plan for
adequate bailout. All IANTD Technical Diving programs have a strong emphasis on
self reliance, equipment management and streamlining. Students in all IANTD
Technical Diver programs are required to use the IANTD Technical Encyclopedia as
their reference and be provided with an IANTD Student Workbook as part of their
course. For further information on each course divers should contact an IANTD Training Facility.
IANTD Technical Diver Course
The IANTD Technical Diver program was designed to provide training for divers who wish to dive to depths
between 30 meters and 54 meters using custom blend breathing gas mixtures. The IANTD Technical Diver
program enables divers to gain a greater understanding of the use of custom blend breathing gas mixtures,
a complete knowledge of the limits of any EANx mixture, and the use of EANx and oxygen for
decompression.
To participate in the IANTD Technical Diver program divers need to be first qualified as an IANTD Advanced
EANx Diver, have logged a minimum of 100 dives, of which at least 30 were deeper than 27 meters and be a
minimum of 18 years of age.
The IANTD Technical Diver program includes a minimum of 280 minutes of open-water run time completed
within at least 5 dives. Your instructor will ensure that at least two of the dives will be to depths deeper than
39 meters but no deeper than 51 meters during your course.
The IANTD Technical Diver program provides divers with the knowledge to safely perform full
decompression dives outside of training up to 54 meters.

IANTD Normoxic Trimix Diver Course
The IANTD Normoxic Trimix program provides training to those divers who wish to dive to depths between
39 meters and 60 meters. This program teaches divers to use an Equivalent Narcotic Depth (END) of 36m or
less to reduce the effects of Nitrogen Narcosis when diving in the 39 - 60 meters range. Normoxic Trimix
reduces narcosis on dives to such depths thus allowing divers to operate more safely and efficiently.
To participate in the IANTD Normoxic Trimix course divers need to be qualified as an IANTD Advanced EANx
Diver, must have logged a minimum of 100 dives, of which at least 30 were deeper than 27 meters and be a
minimum of 18 years of age.
The IANTD Normoxic Trimix program includes a minimum of two Air or EANx or Normoxic (or greater than
21% oxygen) Trimix gas or diluent dives in Open water to depths not exceeding 39 meters. On all of the
dives the student is taught the skills to manage one stage cylinder. In addition the program includes a
minimum of three dives in on Trimix using one gas switch. Your instructor will ensure that these dives are
completed between 39 meters and 60 meters. This Program will include a minimum of 280 minutes of run
time, including Air, EANx and Trimix dives.
The IANTD Normoxic Trimix Diver program provides divers with the knowledge to safely perform full
decompression dives with and END of 36m outside of training up to 60 meters.

IANTD Trimix Diver Course
The IANTD Trimix Diver program is designed for those individuals already involved in deep diving activities
and is not intended to encourage or entice divers who are content to remain within normal Sport or EANx
diving limits. Trimix has repeatedly been demonstrated to offer a safer means for deep-water exploration for
divers who dive deep or need to perform with a clear head at depth. The IANTD Trimix Diver Program
encourages divers to be both self-sufficient and team oriented.
To participate in the IANTD Trimix Diver program divers must be qualified as an IANTD Technical Diver or
Technical Cave Diver or Technical Wreck Diver or IANTD Normoxic Trimix Diver, have logged a minimum of
200 logged dives (at least 25 need to have been to depths between 39 meters and 60 meters) and be a
minimum of 18 years of age.
The IANTD Trimix Diver program qualifies divers to perform Trimix Dives outside of training up to 100
meters.

IANTD Expedition Trimix Diver
This program was designed to provide training for Open-circuit divers already involved in deep diving
activities to more safely conduct exploration dives requiring extended decompression profiles and helium
-based gas mixtures. Trimix affords a safer means for deep-water exploration for divers who dive deep or
perform with a clear head at depth. The IANTD Trimix Diver Program requires the diver to be selfsufficient/
reliant. Participation in the IANTD Expedition Trimix Diver program is not intended to be used as
an enticement to divers who are content to remain in normal Sport or EANx diving limits.
To take part in an IANTD Expedition Diver program divers must be qualified as an IANTD Trimix Diver or
equivalent with at least 100 Trimix dives or sufficient experience conducting technical dives to satisfy the
instructor that they have the ability and knowledge to continue into this Expedition level of training. All
divers must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
The IANTD Expedition Trimix Diver program qualifies divers to perform Trimix Dives outside of training up to
120 meters.
